Chiropractic - What to Expect
First Chiropractic Visit
- You will fill out and review the Health History Intake forms to to provide a thorough health history for your records.
- A comprehensive physical examination will be performed which includes: blood pressure, reflexes and muscle strength testing to find any nerve damage, testing of your general ability to move your neck, back, arms, and legs, orthopedic testing, and various hands-on pressure and examination along the spine and pelvis to determine whether joints and/or muscles are causing your discomfort.
- If no x-rays are warranted and chiropractic treatment is considered an effective treatment for your condition, a tailored adjustment will be done which often includes your neck, mid-back, low back, and potentially hips, knees, ankles, shoulder, elbows, wrists, and jaw depending on your areas of discomfort. In addition, various stretching and muscle relaxation techniques may be done with you.
Follow-Up Chiropractic Visits
- An adjustment will be done. Various home stretching exercises and neck and/or low back core strengthening exercises will be given. Ergonomics of both home and workplace activities will be provided.
- Nutritional consultation, massage therapy, and/or acupuncture will be recommended, as needed, to allow you to heal to an optimal level of health and wellness. All of these therapies are done here, at ACWC, for your convenience.
